Resort

Tiliva Resort - the Great Astrolabe Reef Resort is Fijian owned.  Kemu, having spent many years in Europe returned home to establish the resort in order to help his village.  It is a small intimate resort offering a very personal service with a true Fijian welcome.

This remote eco resort is set in 18 acres of lush tropical gardens with its own secluded beachfront having magnificent views across the bay to the island of Ono.  Its location is just minutes from the Great Astrolabe Reef and Waisomo reserve, yet it is remote, and secluded, far away from the mainstream resorts.

The resort has one beachfront honeymoon bure (bungalow) and five deluxe garden bures with ocean views.  The beachfront bure is just footsteps from the beach having a 360 degree veranda one side of which overlooks the sea.  It has its own comfortable deck chairs and sun loungers on the veranda.

Many of the indigenous trees within the resort have been maintained, not only for medicinal purposes but for privacy for the bures.  The sites for the bures have been carefully selected bearing in mind the environment and privacy for the guests, to this end the bures are individually nestled in the trees for seclusion thereby enhancing the feeling of remoteness and more in contact with nature.  Yet the bures offer all the creature comforts you would expect at home. They are fully tiled throughout with high wooden ceilings, ceiling fans, the doors and windows are fully meshed against mosquitoes.  They are not in a straight row along the beachfront; each bure is standalone and has its own veranda and side decking, tucked away in the trees, but retaining the ocean view.

Each bure has:
  1. 24 hour 240 volt electricity
  2. Outside lights to guide you home in the dark
  3. 2 Power points for charging batteries, laptops etc
  4. Lights and fans
  5. Screened windows and doors
  6. Bedside reading lamps
  7. Private verandas on two sides
  8. Deck Chairs
  9. Daily Room Service
  10. Private showers with continuous hot water
Our kitchen garden provides us with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables which are organically grown.  Kemu cares for the garden daily (amongst other things), he grows cassava, dalo, pineapples, mangoes, eggplant, cabbage, rourou, chilies, capsicum, water melons and fresh herbs to name but a few.

Guests can enjoy the freshly picked tropical fruit and native vegetables from our kitchen garden and from the gardens in the village.  This, coupled with fresh fish and local delicacies we offer the finest of western and Fijian cuisine, and all served with a big Fijian smile.  There is a well stocked bar with cold beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.  All meals (cooked breakfast, lunch and three course dinner) are included in the cost of your stay.

Dining is in the restaurant or on the veranda of the main bure overlooking the gardens from where you will be able to see the Kadavu parrot as he flies past.

Kokoda (ceviche) is top of the list here together with all those different coconut sauces for the fresh fish - wahoo, walu, coral tout - the guests love our diverse menu.

All dietary requirements are catered for but advance notice would be helpful due to the remoteness of the resort.
